Blessed are the peacemakers

Jesus Christ—has brought peace between God and us, and he has taught us to live in peace with one another and to become peacemakers—to bring peace.

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12) To love one another means peacemaking among people.

We are called to help people build a healthy relationship with God and with one another. Ro 12:18 –If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everybody.

Heb 12:14 – Make every effort to live at peace with all men & to be holy.

To be a peacemaker is to change lives. But we can’t change lives unless our lives are changed. Is your life changed in Jesus?

Paul said,“From now on, if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away, see, everything has become new!” The result of being “in Christ” is that we become a new creature and everything around us becomes new.How to know or feel that you changed?

You are calm, forgiving, humble, filled with the Holy Spirit. You are part of a solution not a problem. You are not thinking only on your personal gain.

You no longer see people around you with judgmental thoughts; you see them as brothers. You don’t fight for justice with anger, but you search for justice for reconciliation of the world. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I have a Dream” speech is a great example, “…I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together…”That is a peacemaker! We all have dreams about peace, prosperity, through love, friendship. Not that long ago as a Kid we did believe in our dreams, we did believe in fairy tales, in magical stories in the bible.Between “once upon a time” and “happily ever after” lies a timeless, ever-changing world, where everything is possible and dreams do come true if we still believe in them. Some of us changed and grew up and became realistic and materialistic men. This is not a change that Jesus wants to see in us. He wants to see us as righteous, humble, merciful, pure in heart, peacemaker who are called children of god, who still believes in miracles, and heavenly Kingdom.

“So we are ambassadors for Christ … in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:20-21

If you are changed man, then you are a good listener. You are constantly trying to understand others, their point of view, their concerns, their ideas, where they are coming from. In other wards you seek to understand before seeking to be understood. If you are a changed man, then prayer and the Bible are your companions. Are they? Now if your life is new, your life is changed, then you can change others lives too.Or maybe you already did. Who’s life did you change?

Here is a brief summary of the story as it is usually told: In the fourth century a little monk named Telemachus was led by an inner voice to go to Rome without knowing why. He followed the crowds to the Coliseum. Two gladiators were fighting, and Telemachus tried to get between them to stop them, shouting three times, “In the name of Christ, forbear!” Telemachus was killed by being run through with the sword of one of the gladiators. When the crowd saw the little monk lying dead in a pool of blood, they fell silent, leaving the stadium, one by one. Because of Telemachus’ death, three days later, the Emperor by verdict ended the Games.
